You're always marketing your leadership brand.
On a recent visit to the Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge, I ordered my cappuccino from a live barista! That was enough to impress me until something caught my attention. What stood out just that little bit more? It was a coco sprinkle of the airline logo! What an impression, figuratively and literally speaking.
As a high performance coach, I'm always looking to support leaders in giving voice to their brand. This airline reminded me that you don't have to be overt with your brand but you do have to make your mark by small, consistent acts that speak to your strengths and genius level attributes.
One way to anchor in your brand is to decide on 3 attributes, or ways of being, that you want to embody. For example, you might decide you want to exude gravitas, conviction and calmness. Next, take a moment prior to every engagement to prime yourself by stepping into those 3 attributes. This will change your state. And state is the secret sauce behind your leadership brand.
Here's a question to get you thinking deeply about your leadership brand:
What do people say about me (my brand) long after I've left the room?
What's that little 'sprinkle' of your presence that you need to own and give more visibility to?
